Abstract
The paper presents results obtained by the developed in-house code based on the finite element (FE) method and applied to the solution of fluid-structure interaction problem in aeroelasticity of aerofoils. We consider flexibly supported aerofoil with three degrees of freedom (3-DOF) in two-dimensional (2D) incompressible viscous flow. The aerofoil vibration is described by nonlinear ordinary differential equations of motion for large vibration amplitudes. The flow is modelled by the Navier-Stokes equations for laminar flow or by the Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations for turbulent k -omega model. The flutter behaviour of the aerofoil is numerically simulated in time domain and the results for laminar and turbulent flows are compared.
