Validation of CFD models – an experimentalist’s view

The presentation will show a current praxis of CFD model validation for turbulent flow, namely atmospheric flow. The evaluation of these models is usually performed with the use of laboratory data. We will introduce a principle of wind tunnel modeling of the atmospheric boundary layer, measurement techniques, and the method limitations. The validation of the large-eddy simulation model against the wind tunnel data within a street canyon will be shown.
