Abstract

The paper is concerned with the numerical solution of static and dynamic elasticity problems. The purpose of this subject is the computation of the so-called ALE mapping (representing the mesh deformation) in the solution of flow in time-dependent domains and the computation of the time-dependent deformation of an elastic body. These two problems represent important ingredients in the fluid-structure interaction (FSI). They are discretized by the discontinuous Galerkin method (DGM). Here we describe the method and present some test problems. The developed method is applied to the FSI problem.
