This contribution presents simulations of non-laminar fluid flow using the Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM). The work focuses on complex transitional and turbulent flow regimes in geometrically complicated domains relevant to biomedical and engineering applications. The presented results were obtained at the FNSPE, CTU in Prague in collaboration with Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine, Czech Academy of Sciences, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, USA, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg, USA, and AGH University of Krakow, Poland. The contribution demonstrates the capability of LBM to capture complex flow structures and transient phenomena with high numerical efficiency. Selected simulations are compared with experimental measurements obtained at collaborating institutions. The presented work highlights the suitability of LBM for large-scale parallel simulations in computational fluid dynamics.
